Precept
The Precept is that element of your Council Tax that is paid to Beckingham-Cum-Saundby Parish Council.
Every year, the Responsible Financial Officer draws up the Parish Council budgets and calculates how much money is needed for the next Financial Year. These are usually finalised and then agreed by the Councillors at at the December Council meeting and then submitted to Bassetlaw District Council (BDC). BDC co-ordinates the other demands from Nottinghamshire County Council, the Police and themselves and come up with the rate to be paid from 1st April of that year. All self generated income, such as rents from land and buildings etc, is factored in before setting the required precept figure.
Whilst this year's rise (2022-23) shows on the Council Tax Statement, an increase per month of £7.15(Band D) or £4.76 (Band A) per month. The Band D annual amount is still just £85.74 and Band A £57.17 per year. This is still an average sized precept for Bassetlaw and cheaper than several of our neighbouring Parishes, (in 2020/21 West Stockwith Band D was £129.81, Misterton £129.31, Sturton Le Steeple £96.63) it is also smaller than many national parish precepts.
