Covid-19 Infection Rates
It has come to my attention that one or two readers have concerns regarding the Covid data and graph provided in the latest newsletter so I think its appropriate to clarify this.
The data is taken directly off the Government Website so strictly speaking it is accurate. That said there needs to be a little interpretation of the data. As mentioned in the newsletter the Government uses a rate per 100,000 so with a small village such as Beckingham any small increase has a large effect when scaled up. Secondly the Government use postcodes and not specific villages so the DN10 postcode includes Clarborough, Gringley and Misterton as well as Beckingham. Thirdly the Government does not give any rates per 100,000 if the infections for an area are below three so these have to be interpreted. As low numbers show very low figures this isn't a problem for Beckingham. In future I will amend any graph to be more relevant to our village
